About Me

“i chose to dream”

Poetry isn’t written. It’s painted, and let’s just say
I’ve been painting since i was a boy.

My life of poetry began when I was 8-yrs-old, leaving my parents behind in Nigeria, and entrusted to my brother’s care in Columbus, Ohio. Where the turbulence of past parental conflict reverberated in my ears, almost as loud as the aircraft engines that carried me here,
art was the ambience I needed to settle my mind; and poetry was the music.

A tune I grew fond of, further inspired by the whimsical works of Shel Silverstein, my poetic odyssey began, evolving with time and experience. As I matured, so did my themes. Unjust law enforcement began to haunt the neighborhood I called home. My art became a shield, a voice for the voiceless, a requiem for stolen dreams.

My journey continued at the University of Dayton, where I pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering. An avenue that challenged me to evolve as a critical thinker. This time of academic rigor was also a period of artistic growth, where I learned to meld the innovation of engineering with the fluidity of poetic expression; a dual passion. I soon realized I was losing my poetic authenticity to the noise of the outside world. I needed silence, meditation. To find my voice, I needed to rediscover the whispers of my soul.

Post-graduation, I established Gabriel Gaius Media LLC, a platform for my self-published books, but also a conduit to assist future wordsmiths. ‘When You Get Older’, my inaugural opus, embodies my journey of self-discovery and my commitment to fostering originality in storytelling.

I aspire not only to craft tales, but to inspire a generation of writers and creatives to push beyond the boundaries of their imagination. To realize that though we were given the Earth to call home, the universe is ours to explore, and there’s a galaxy of potential inside each of us waiting to be discovered.

I truly admire your way with words. Poets have a way of carefully weaving in their pains and hurts into words that are thoughtful and easy to relate to.

This book illustrates how nobody wins when the family feuds.
